Since 1945, the city of Montbard has owned the studio of sculptor Eugène Guillaume (1800-1905, Grand Prix de Rome, Director of the Ecole des Beaux-arts de Paris and the Académie de France in Rome).
His native house faces the chapel and convent of the Ursulines in which are preserved nearly 70 works in plaster, marble or stone, some of which served as a model before the cast metal.
His works are preserved in major national museums and his sculptures adorn 19th-century monuments such as the Opéra Garnier, the Musée national… A new selection of his works will be presented in the decor of the Ursuline chapel.
