Burgundy-Franche-Comté Regional Council - Besançon site
Guided tours of archaeological remains
The construction of the underground parking of the Regional Council gave rise, in 1989 and 1990, to two campaigns of archaeological excavations which brought to light important vestiges of the Roman era, including a part of the aqueduct which supplied the city of Besançon with drinking water, the remains of a theatre dating from the first century after Christ, as well as a mosaic dating from the 1600s to 1900s.
Edgar Faure Room
The room, located in the current «Convention» building, was built between 1985 and 1989 to accommodate regional elected representatives in assembly until 2016.
An animation to discover the new heritage portal of the Region will also be proposed (www.patrimoine.bourgognefranchecomte.fr).
