Free visit of the Archaeological Museum of Viuz-Faverges
Site museum consisting of three rooms: its collections come from ancient discoveries, excavations and more recent prospections in the region.
The objects presented, from the most mundane to the most sophisticated, make us relive the highlights of the human occupation of the Neolithic in the 18th century in the canton of Faverges. Polished stone axes, bronze or amber ornaments, jewellery, coins, pottery, tools, cauldron are the testimony of this.
The Gallo-Roman period is the most represented thanks in particular to an abundant material discovered on the sites of the sanctuary, the vicus and the villa (mansio) of Thovey.
You can also take advantage of a temporary exhibition lent by the INRAP (National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research) entitled: "The professions of archaeology".
The museum is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Special attention is paid to children, persons with visual, hearing or psychic impairments.
Do not hesitate to ask one of the volunteers and the Guide du Patrimoine de Savoie Mont-Blanc which will be at your disposal in the museum rooms.
Children’s play booklet on request.
