Originally a simple fortified house, the building took on its present structure after several campaigns of work, stretching from the Renaissance to the 19th century. The castle reached its peak in the 18th century when the estate, then under the possession of the Porte family, was raised as a marquisate by Louis XV (1729). Of particular interest are the Renaissance gallery with its carved medallions and sashes, and the terraced gardens facing the Vercors, inspired by the Italian gardens of the time. The castle has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1991.
