In the basement of the museum, discover the ancient Grenoble: the Gallo-Roman rampart of the city (3rd century) and the traces of the first «Grenoblois», but also the baptistery whose remains reveal the architecture of the building (4th – 6th centuries) in which the baptism of the first Christians was celebrated. Exceptional archaeological remains!

Located at the heart of the historic centre of Grenoble, close to the cathedral, the Museum of the Old(Former) Bishop's palace is installed(settled) in the old(former) palace of the bishops, building was protected in conformance with(for) Historic monuments.
