A medieval fortified city dating back to the 12th century, Marcolès, Petite Cité de Caractère®, has a circular enclosure through which two doors open onto Longue Street. Along it stand beautiful Renaissance facades.
The lower gate retains the attributes of its past military functions, gonds, arches, coat of arms… The Church of Saint Martin, in the heart of the village, is one of the highlights of the visit of the city, especially by the quality of its statuary and furniture.
