The Gallo-Roman site of Thovey is an important one hectare suburban villa located away from the Vicus de Casuaria.
It consists of a rectangular courtyard (60x40m) surrounded by a portico and flanked to the north and south by two wings of buildings.
Only the north wing is visible today and has been the subject of planned excavations between 1981 and 1999 in which participated locals, Piedmontese and Americans.
The western part corresponds to large baths, the eastern part to the habitat. They are separated by a closed passage on the courtyard side by a gate.
Built around 50, the site was burned around 270.
The discovered material is exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Viuz-Faverges
The Guides du Patrimoine de Savoie Mont-Blanc invite you to go back in time by presenting the life and organization of this villa classified Historic Monument.
They will also sensitize you students and teachers to the need for its preservation.
