The church of Saint John the Baptist of Viuz-Faverges is a religious building whose history dates back to the Early Christian era: the remains of a Roman building of the 1st century and three churches of the 6th century, from around 800 and around 1000, are visible in the archaeological crypt.
The present building is composed of a 12th century Romanesque choir decorated with green molasse capitals decorated with flowers of water and baroque stalls from 1696. The baptismal font also dates from the 17th century, as for the nave and the collaterals, they are in neoclassical style.
Our Guides du Patrimoine de Savoie Mont-Blanc will make the public aware of the need to restore the building and highlight its furniture.
The church is accessible to people with reduced mobility, but not the archaeological crypt.
