On the occasion of these heritage days, the EDF Hydrélec Museum is focusing on hydraulic wheels. Antique noria or modern reversible turbine, these circular machines have in common to turn thanks to the energy of water. However, behind this simple principle, human curiosity, economic strategies, changes in society… motivate their evolution. Materials, shapes, dimensions… meet technical performance as closely as possible. Agricultural, industrial, electrical production… the fields of activity have diversified.
This 60-minute tour of the wheels exhibited at the EDF Hydrélec Museum honours the ingenuity of its machines, a technical and industrial heritage that has been developed over the years.

Entirely devoted to the hydropower, the EDF museum Hydrélec redraws the epic poem of this technique of electricity production by the strength of the water. He(It) found his(its) place naturally at the heart of Oisans, in Isère, cradle of the hydropower. Its unique(only) collections, from the Alpine Bow(Arc), dating the XIXth and XXth centuries, benefit from the naming "museum of France".
