The neoclassical monument was built by the architect Charles Questel, assisted by his pupil J.-H. Riondel, from 1861 to 1866. In January 1867 a monument was born, with great reinforcements of drawings circulating between Grenoble and the capital, whose external and internal richness is a reflection of the prosperity and power of the Second Empire.
