For the 2022 France-Portugal cross-season, VIDEOFORMES (FR) Culturgest (PT) and COAL (FR), as part of their collaboration as a member of the European network Art Climate Transition, invite the Berru collective to produce a new work on the energy issues of the Ocean. It will be presented for the first time at Culturgest Porto from 1 July to 4 September 2022 and then at Vidéoformes (FR) in the spectacular Chapel of the Oratory in Clermont-Ferrand from 16 September to 2 October 2022. The Berru collective, composed of Bernardo Bordalo, Rui Nó and Sérgio Coutinho and founded in Porto in 2015, is interested in the synergies and challenges posed by the growing interaction between the biological and technological worlds. Their works combine living and non-living systems to reveal their complexity and speculate on their potential collaborations to create sustainable systems. With Transforming Energy, the collective explores techniques for capturing low-frequency energies such as the movement of the sea and ways to store them in biological batteries. The installation plunges us into an underwater universe, where the energy flows and vibrations of matter are reasoned. This unstable and ever-changing balance carries within it the memory of the agile and evolutionary character of ecosystems. He also asks us about the real cost of energy and its finiteness. A conference series on eco-acoustics and the energy challenges of the ocean, bringing together Franco-Portuguese researchers and artists, and organized in partnership with the University of Clermont-Ferrand, will complete the exhibition. Full program to come and find on the sites of Coal, Culturgest and Vidéoformes. Event organised as part of the 2022 France-Portugal Season
