In 2002, the town of Chamonix acquired the Maison Baud (name of the former owner). This building, built in the second half of the 19th century, has a very simple characteristic regional architecture with a three-sided cover referring to the ancestral farms of Haute-Savoie. City Council decided to renovate this building at the meeting of June 23, 2006\. In 2010, the Culture Committee responsible for choosing the assignment of this house decided on the creation of a House of Memory and Heritage. The Maison de la Mémoire et du Patrimoine is a lively and open welcome centre designed to allow everyone to familiarize themselves with the heritage of the Chamonix Valley and make it their own. * Preservation of audio, oral and photographic archives collected by the City Memoirs service
