Conference and visit of the 7 castles
Lecture by Scholastique DUGUEYT.
Seven «castles» punctuate the sunny side, the adret of the village. The town hall (or castle of Montcla) and the castle of Longpra can be visited. The other estates: Lambertière, La Rochette, Clermont, Cabarot and Etergne are private properties that can only be admired from afar, or during the Heritage Days, mid-September, with the fascinating historical comments of the owners.
The town hall or castle of Moncla, is located in the heart of the village.
The House of Longpra is the most famous of all. The oldest of all the castles of Saint-Geoire is the castle of Clermont. It belonged to one of the first descendants of the Clermont family. The castle of La Rochette and its four corner towers are visible in the upper part.
The houses of Etergne, Cabarot and Lambertière complete the visit of the castles of the village. A walk in the form of an orientation route allows to make the tour. The map will be distributed in Town Hall.
