In the 19th century, the decision was made to transfer the hospitals of Grenoble to the commune of La Tronche. Several pavilion complexes were built to accommodate the ill and wounded civilians and soldiers: the Old People’s Asylum, the sanatoriums, the military hospital and the civilian hospital.
