Visit of the abbey!
The Abbey of Arthous, in Hastingues, offers students and their teachers a discovery of the old abbey by a new format: observation, drawing and games...
These activities allow you to glimpse the history and remains of a historical monument through a playful and sensitive approach.
The discovery begins with a silent visit where the students discover, in silence, the exterior of the monument and its environment. They then share a feeling, a color, a material, which challenged them with the whole class and the mediator.
Then games of observation and drawing allow to decipher the details that testify today to the history and architecture of the site. A path with mirrors allows students to “walk” through the church frame.
Finally, giant models allow to recreate the plan of the abbey and rebuild Romanesque arches.
Transportation between the school establishment and the Abbey of Arthous and mediation are handled by the Department of Landes.
