On a guided tour, learn more about the history of this place where the factory and its blast furnace were installed.

Discover the history of the gardens of the Domaine de la Forge, from 1715 until the end of the industrial character of the site around 1862.
Today, there is nothing left of what could have been foundry activity. However, some buildings remain to be admired, such as kiosks built of Euville stone, a bridge and a footbridge in cast iron spanning the canal dedicated to the operation of the said forge.
A functioning paddle wheel gives the charm of the place.
At the decline of this industry, the descendants of the Paillot family proceeded to the destruction of the factory and created a resort residence embellished with these gardens that were to express the bourgeois side of the time.
However, at the beginning of the 20th century, the entire estate was sold and François Étienne bought it.
François Étienne was an artist: teacher of drawing and master glassmaker, student of the great master Maréchal in Metz then in Bar-le-Duc.
The estate remained in the same family until today.

After his death, his son, settled in Paris, undertook to transform the site of Boncourt, which hardly functions anymore, into a country residence soon renamed «Château de la Forge». Efforts were concentrated mainly on the creation of an English-style park, taking advantage of the reach and the old rubbish, with the culmination of a cast iron footbridge from the Vadonville factories.
The history of these ironworks is thus part of the development and decline of the old Meuse metallurgy between the 18th and the end of the 19th century. It also highlights the destiny of trading families who, thanks to their ingenuity and business acumen, have been able to take advantage of the Revolution and eme
