Discover a 16th century castle and its park labeled «Remarkable Garden»
Come visit the park of the castle of the Varenne, inscribed under the title of historical monuments and classified «remarkable garden». Also visit the listed interiors of the castle in the afternoon.
The design of the current park is carried out according to the principles in force in the nineteenth century: a meadow, punctuated by groves and surrounded by a more or less dense afforestation. Here and there stands out a remarkable species by its size (purple beech, plane trees...) or its originality (tulips of Virginia). The castle, meanwhile, has several elements classified as historical monuments, such as its vestibule. The rare Renaissance ceiling with carved stone coffers dates from the construction of the castle (1506) and its monumental staircase of the eighteenth century. Its dining room has 18th century woodwork decorations.
The visit of the listed interiors of the castle will take place at 16h in the afternoon.
