Conference on the preliminary results of the archaeological excavation of Saint-Hermeland church by Camille Colonna archéo-anthropologue at Inrap
Prior to the restoration of the church of Saint-Hermeland de Bagneux, archaeological research was prescribed by the State (Drac Île-de-France). The excavations, carried out by the French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap) in 2019, have led to the discovery of 3 skeletons 1.2 metres below the ground of the Saint-Hermeland church. The feet to the east, the head to the west, they rest in a cavity dug out of the natural terrain to suit their shape. They lived between 751 and 1000, before the construction of the present church, which dates from the 12th or 13th century. Evidence, hitherto missing, that there was probably already a religious building there.
