Metz, living city, begins(affects) at this beginning of the XXIth century a new transformation with the creation of a new urban district at the heart of the city: the district of the amphitheatre(lecture hall). This urban planning project is of an unsurpassed importance for more than a century. This visit is bilingual French-German.

The station of Metz was inaugurated in 1908 by the German imperial Department of the Railroads of Alsace-Lorraine. Both previous stations were respectively built in 1850 and 1878\. Œuvre of the Berlin architect Jürgen Kröger, this monumental building is built in sandstone of Niderviller in a Rhenish neo-Romanic style. The building(ship)-traveller is along 300 m, the clock tower amounts to 40 m. The decoration(set) of facades evokes conquests of German Empire. The first function(office) of the station of Metz is military, terminus of the strategical train line of artillery ", this network allowing to move 20 000 men(people) in 24 hours. The building(ship) of the station of Metz (facade, roofing, hall of departures, lounge(show) of honour) is registered in conformance with(for) historic monuments since 1975\.
