Former residence of the Dukes of Lesdiguières (17th century), of the Perier family (1782-1895), then presidential residence (1925-1960), the castle installed in a park of 100 hectares is since 1973 property of the Department of Isère. The meeting, on July 21, 1788, of the assembly of the three orders of the Dauphiné, at the invitation of Claude Perier, sealed the fate of the castle. This decisive political demonstration in the beginning of the events of 1789 led to the creation of a museum dedicated to the French Revolution. Since 1983, the rooms of the castle have been transformed into the Museum of the French Revolution where a unique collection of works of art related to this period of history from the end of the Ancien Régime to the third Republic is exhibited.
