The Diputación de Palencia celebrates the European Days of Archaeology (JEA 2026) in the Villa Romana La Olmeda and the Museum of La Olmeda.
Since 2019, the European Archaeology Days (JEA) have been held annually in Spain at the beginning of June, together with the other member countries of the Council of Europe. They are an initiative of the French Government’s Ministry of Culture, through the National Institute for Research in Preventive Archaeology (INRAP), which in Spain is coordinated by the Subdirectorates-General of the Spanish Institute of Cultural Heritage (IPCE) and of Management and Coordination of Cultural Assets (SGGCBBCC), dependent on the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts and are developed in collaboration with the various autonomous communities. In the 2026 edition it will take place on 12, 13 and 14 June.
The Roman Villa La Olmeda, since several editions, joins this initiative as one of the most important archaeological sites in the Iberian Peninsula. To this end, the Palencia Provincial Council through the Culture Service has scheduled several guided educational tours and a Roman mosaic workshop, as part of the cultural activities program 'CVLTVRO 2026-2027'. A quote with the history and daily life of the inhabitants of La Olmeda.
