3 rue François-de-Ganay 95270 Luzarches
This fief owes its name to a large castle motte. This first seigniorial fortification probably dates from the 10th or 11th centuries. Today, this earthwork, surrounded by an annular moat still exists. About 10m high, this motte is one of the most important in the Val d'Oise. At the beginning of the 13th century, the family of Bouteiller de Senlis had a quadrangular castle built with 7 towers. The rich Italian family Cenesne owned it in the 16th century. The property was taken over and restored during the 20th century by the Count of Ganay, who had a bourgeois manor built amidst the remains of the old castle. The Countess of Ganay landscaped English-style gardens. This domain is now the seat of the community of communes Carnelle Pays de France as well as the intercommunal library.
