The idea of a conservation orchard was born in 2007 from a simple observation within the heritage association of Cognac-la-Forêt. As well as stones, historical monuments, museums... our plant heritage deserves all our attention. The fruit species of yesteryear, superseded by much more productive selected varieties, constitute an immense biological heritage whose memory alone arouses the enthusiasm for conservation. Today, fruit varieties disappear due to lack of attention and interest, it is our duty to keep this plant diversity alive and pass it on to future generations! Today about fifty apple trees, all from francs are grafted with ancient local varieties. Open doors on various themes are offered to the public.
