Inaugurated in 1927, the Bossuet museum presents the historical collections of the city, gathered in the 19th century. They are today composed of more than 5,500 objects of very varied nature, attached to the history of the territory. A rich iconographic collection evoking Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, bishop of Meaux, completes it. The generosity of scientists allowed to develop the painting collections: the legacy of the son of Henri Moissan, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1906, notably includes works by Jean-François Millet, Jean-Léon, Gérôme, Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps. Since 1983, the donations of Jean-Pierre and Annie Changeux have been embedding the collections of paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries by Jacques Blanchard, Sébastien Bourdon, Mathieu le Nain. The episcopal palace offers an exceptional historical setting for the presentation of the furniture and artistic collections of the bishops of Meaux. The medieval rooms on the ground floor host temporary exhibitions.
