Die arabische Welt ist zugleich der Schmelztiegel, in dem sich verschiedene vorislamische Gartenstile verschmelzen: babylonisch, ägyptisch und persisch ... und der Ort der Schaffung und Verbreitung des Modells des «arabischen Gartens» im Mittelalter. Dieses Modell hat praktisch alle von der islamischen Zivilisation beherrschten Räume erobert. Damaskus, Bagdad, Grenada, Fès, Marrakesch, Kairouan und Tlemcen haben sich zu den Hauptstädten der Gartenkunst entwickelt und ihre Förderung unterstützt. Bemerkenswert ist, dass das geschaffene Modell seit dem 9. Jahrhundert die Gartenbauer und Gärtner an beiden Seiten des Mittelmeers inspiriert. Selbst als die Gartenstile «à la française» und «à l'anglaise» vorherrschend wurden, behielt er eine gewisse Vitalität bei und wurde ständig wieder aufgenommen und neu geschaffen.

The Arab world is both the melting pot in which different pre-Islamic styles of gardens have come to blend: Babylonian, Egyptian and Persian ... and the centre of creation and diffusion of the model of the «Arab garden» in the Middle Ages. This model has practically conquered all the spaces dominated by the civilization of Islam. Damascus, Baghdad, Grenada, Fez, Marrakesh, Kairouan, Tlemcen, have been capitals of the art of gardens and helped to promote it. What is remarkable is that the model created has not ceased since the ninth century to inspire gardeners and garden designers on both sides of the Mediterranean. Even when the styles of the garden «à la française» and «à l'anglais» became predominant, it kept a certain vitality and was constantly taken up and recreated.

Il mondo arabo è allo stesso tempo il crogiolo nel quale si sono fusi diversi stili preislamici di giardini: babilonese, egiziano e persiano ... e il centro di creazione e diffusione del modello del «giardino arabo» nel Medioevo. Questo modello ha praticamente conquistato tutti gli spazi dominati dalla civiltà dell'Islam. Damasco, Baghdad, Granada, Fez, Marrakech, Kairouan, Tlemcen, hanno costituito le capitali dell'arte dei giardini e hanno contribuito alla sua promozione. La cosa notevole è che il modello creato non ha cessato dal IX secolo di ispirare i creatori di giardini e giardinieri delle due rive del Mediterraneo. Anche quando gli stili del giardino «alla francese» e «all'inglese» sono diventati predominanti, ha mantenuto una certa vitalità ed è stato costantemente ripreso e ricreato.

Le monde arabe constitue à la fois le creuset dans lequel sont venus se fondre différents styles préislamiques de jardins : babylonien, égyptien et perse … et le foyer de création et de diffusion du modèle du « jardin arabe » au Moyen-Âge. Ce modèle a conquis pratiquement l’ensemble des espaces dominés par la civilisation de l’Islam. Damas, Bagdad, Grenade, Fès, Marrakech, Kairouan, Tlemcen, ont constitué des capitales de l’art des jardins et aidé à sa promotion. Ce qui est remarquable, c’est que le modèle créé n’a pas cessé depuis le IXe siècle d’inspirer les créateurs de jardins et les jardiniers des deux Rives de la Méditerranée. Même lorsque les styles du jardin « à la française » et « à l’anglaise » sont devenus prédominants, il a gardé une certaine vitalité et fut constamment repris et recréé.

El mundo árabe constituye a la vez el crisol en el que se han fundido diferentes estilos preislámicos de jardines: babilónicos, egipcios y persas ... y el foco de creación y difusión del modelo del «jardín árabe» en la Edad Media. Este modelo ha conquistado prácticamente todos los espacios dominados por la civilización del Islam. Damasco, Bagdad, Granada, Fez, Marrakech, Kairouan, Tlemcen, han constituido capitales del arte de los jardines y han ayudado a su promoción. Lo notable es que el modelo creado no ha dejado de inspirar desde el siglo IX a los jardineros y jardineros de las dos orillas del Mediterráneo. Incluso cuando los estilos del jardín «a la francesa» y «a l'anglaise» se hicieron predominantes, conservó una cierta vitalidad y fue constantemente retomado y recreado.
