Château, 50210 Cerisy-la-Salle
Built on a rocky outcrop, set back from the village overlooking the valley of the Soulles, the castle of Cerisy-la-Salle, is part of a vast park crossed by the stream called the Rabec.
Its function, originally essentially nourishing, with an adjoining farm, a fish pond, a warren and a vegetable garden has evolved over the centuries to become a place of pleasure. Entirely enclosed by high walls, south east of the castle, the vegetable garden has a remarkable greenhouse, built at the end of the 19th century by Albert Michaux who participates in the attraction of the place. Very popular at that time, the building responds to the tradition of hospitality of the castle which required to have ornamental plants and flowers. In addition, because of the mild winters, we were passionate in the Channel for the acclimatization of exotic plants. Still used, the Greenhouse houses a vineyard sometimes generous in table grapes and allows the storage and cultivation of plants that adorn the massifs.
