Im Rahmen ihrer jeweiligen Ausstellungen, Vivus und Viva, laden die Künstler Jan Stevens und Carolle Masson die Botanikerin Aurélie Grall ein, einen Austausch rund um das Herbarium der Botanischen Gesellschaft Basel und deren Aktualität zu führen. Ausgehend von ihren jeweiligen Praktiken schlägt dieses Treffen vor, das Herbarium als einen Raum der Erinnerung und der Aufmerksamkeit für das Lebendige zu erkunden. Wie stehen diese alten Sammlungen im Dialog mit den heutigen Pflanzen? Was lernen wir daraus, wie wir die Pflanzenwelt betrachten und verstehen? Zwischen wissenschaftlichem Ansatz und künstlerischem Blick werden die Referenten ihre Erfahrungen im Geist des Dialogs austauschen.

As part of their respective exhibitions, Vivus and Viva, the artists Jan Stevens and Carolle Masson invite the botanist Aurélie Grall to share a time of exchange around the herbarium of the botanical society of Basel and its news. From their respective practices, this meeting proposes to explore the herbarium as a space of memory and attention to the living. How do these ancient collections dialogue with today’s plants? What do they teach us about our way of looking at and understanding the plant world? Between scientific approach and artistic perspective, the speakers will cross their experiences in a spirit of dialogue.

Partendo dalle loro rispettive pratiche, questo incontro propone di esplorare l'erbario come spazio di memoria e di attenzione al vivente. In che modo queste collezioni antiche dialogano con le piante di oggi? Cosa ci insegnano sul modo in cui guardiamo e comprendiamo il mondo vegetale? Dans le cadre de leurs expositions respectives, Vivus et Viva, les artistes Jan Stevens et Carolle Masson invitent la botaniste Aurélie Grall à partager un temps d’échanges autour de l’herbier de la société botanique de Bâle et de son actualité. À partir de leurs pratiques respectives, cette rencontre propose d’explorer l’herbier comme espace de mémoire et d’attention au vivant. Comment ces collections anciennes dialoguent-elles avec les plantes d’aujourd’hui ? Que nous apprennent-elles sur notre manière de regarder et de comprendre le monde végétal ? Entre approche scientifique et regard artistique, les intervenants croiseront leurs expériences dans un esprit de dialogue.

A partir de sus respectivas prácticas, este encuentro propone explorar el herbario como espacio de memoria y atención a lo vivo. ¿Cómo interactúan estas colecciones antiguas con las plantas de hoy? ¿Qué nos enseñan sobre nuestra forma de ver y entender el mundo vegetal?
