In the 1920s, Laure and Charles de Noailles entrusted Rob Mallet-Stevens with the construction of their villa and Gabriel Guévrékian with the creation of the cubist garden that accompanied it. At the same time, Charles de Noailles, keen on botany and gardening, launched a vast leveling project on the ground below in order to create an ornamental garden. Soon a Mediterranean vegetation, adapted to the poor and arid soil, settles on the narrow terraces connected by stone stairs. At their end, windows formed by stone arches encourage progress to discover the pergola of wisterias exhaling their delicate scent, the terrace of mulberry trees, the alley of cistus or that of rosemary which mingle olive trees, strawberry bushes but also erythrin, sapotillier or melaleuca which add to the diversity of the park. The view plunges over the city and escapes in the distance towards the Mediterranean and the Golden Islands.
