The third place "Au Charbon": a reinvented heritage Located in the heart of the historic center of Courseulles-sur-Mer, close to the market square, "Au Charbon" is a place full of family history, witness to the post-war and reconstruction period. Since 2010, this emblematic site has been the subject of an ambitious rehabilitation: renovation of the house on two floors, transformation of the old buildings of the fuel company and redevelopment of the courtyard dating from the 1950s. This metamorphosis embodies a strong symbolic transition: "from fossil energy to creative and digital energy". True to the spirit of the place, the project values original materials—concrete, wood, tiles, old windows, stairs — in an approach of optimization and preservation.
