European Heritage Days at the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais – Trésor de Vix
On Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais – Trésor de Vix opens its doors to you free of charge for the European Heritage Days.
Throughout the weekend, come and discover or rediscover the collections of the museum and enjoy an exceptional program around history, art and heritage.
Saturday, September 19: conferences around Kiki de Montparnasse
On Saturday, two conferences invite you to dive into the artistic universe of Paris during the Roaring Twenties, in connection with the temporary exhibition "Kiki, Queen of Montparnasse", dedicated to this emblematic figure born in Châtillon-sur-Seine.
At 10:30, Amélie Harrault, director of the animated film "Miss Kiki and the Montparnos", will come to present her film, screened in the exhibition room, and will tell how she became interested in Kiki de Montparnasse and chose to tell her story through animation.
At 2:30 pm, Pierre-Yves Butzbach, specialist of the photographic work of Man Ray, will present the famous photographer, his techniques and his artistic universe. He will also return to his relationship with Kiki de Montparnasse, whom he immortalized in the famous cliché Le Violon d'Ingres.
Saturday, September 19: meeting about the Trésor de Vix
In the Salle du Trésor de Vix, come and meet Olivier Morel, art restorer specialized in the conservation of metals and various materials. Trained in micromechanics and then graduated with a master’s degree in conservation and restoration of heritage, his expertise notably led him to work for the Louvre, the castles of Versailles and Fontainebleau, as well as the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection. Attached to a respectful approach of the works, he favors minimal interventions in order to preserve their integrity and history.
He will notably present his work around the crater of Vix, for which he ensures the conservation follow-up. Like a true "health check", he regularly monitors the state of the vase and the evolution of the restorations carried out in the 1950s. An opportunity to better understand how professionals ensure the conservation of such an exceptional work and ensure its preservation for future generations.
Sunday 20 September: discovering the heritage of Châtillonnais
On Sunday morning, place to the history and memory of the villages of Châtillonnais with the presentation and dedication of the book « Over the colors of time... 107 communes of Châtillonnais .
From 10:30 to 12:30, Jean Millot and Claire Floriet will be present at the museum to introduce you to this book dedicated to the 107 communes of the Communauté de Communes du Pays Châtillonnais.
Through a selection of old postcards, accompanied by anecdotes sometimes historical, sometimes funny, the book brings to life the villages of the territory and their inhabitants. Throughout the pages, landscapes, streets, shops and scenes of everyday life from the past reappear, revealing a Châtillonnais rich in memories and stories. An invitation to take a new look at these communes where each village retains a part of its memory and identity.
A free weekend for everyone
Throughout the duration of the European Heritage Days, access to the museum and all events is free.
Access to both conferences on Saturday is by reservation only.
