Gestures from our worlds
Exhibition collection in partnership with the 32 bis (Tunis)
Co-curator: Hela Djobbi, artistic director of 32bis in Tunis, Salma Kossemtini, independent curator and Cindy Olohou, head of the collection at the Frac
The group exhibition Des gestes de nos mondes will be on view from September 13 to November 14, 2026, in Romainville (93), at the Réserves du Frac Île-de-France, and then in 2027 in Tunis, at 32bis. This collaboration, initiated as part of the “Saison Méditerranée”—a cultural cooperation program led by the Institut français with countries on both shores of the Mediterranean—brings together works from the FRAC’s collection with the practices of artists based in Tunisia or hailing from the southern shore of the Mediterranean, exploring the archive as a living, constantly evolving entity.
Through collection, testimony, and creation, the artists in the exhibition engage with memory—whether familial, historical, collective, or territorial—to reconstruct its narratives and imagine new ones. Gestures of Our Worlds thus reexamines the construction of stories within a pluralistic Mediterranean context, bridging artistic gestures and archives of everyday life.
