Der Botanische Garten der Universität von Porto ist ein Ort von großer ökologischer, historischer und kultureller Bedeutung, der sich durch seine botanische Vielfalt und den Reichtum an Erinnerungen auszeichnet. Es ist ein Garten, der im Laufe der Zeit geplant und strukturiert wurde und verschiedene Epochen und Interventionen widerspiegelt, die zu seiner heutigen Identität beigetragen haben. Im westlichen Teil der Stadt Porto, in der Nähe des Arrábida-Steilhangs gelegen, nimmt der Garten etwa 4 Hektar ein und ist ein Überbleibsel der ehemaligen Quinta do Campo Alegre. Obwohl die offizielle Gründung als botanischer Garten auf das Jahr 1951 zurückgeht, ist die Geschichte dieses Ortes viel älter und reicht bis ins 19. Jahrhundert zurück. Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts, genauer gesagt 1949, erwarb der portugiesische Staat das Anwesen. Einige Jahre später, im Jahr 1951, wurde der Botanische Garten offiziell unter der Aufsicht des Dr. Gonçalo Sampaio Instituts für Botanik und unter der Leitung von Professor Américo Pires de Lima gegründet. Dieser Wandel markierte eine neue Phase im Leben des Gartens, der begann, eine strukturiertere wissenschaftliche und pädagogische Funktion zu übernehmen.
Von diesem Moment an begann ein kontinuierlicher Prozess der Bereicherung der botanischen Sammlung. Zahlreiche Arten von wissenschaftlichem, ökologischem und landschaftlichem Interesse wurden eingeführt, die jene ergänzen, die bereits seit dem 19. Jahrhundert existieren. Der Garten begann daher, eine wichtige Rolle bei der Erforschung, Erhaltung und Verbreitung botanischen Wissens zu spielen und wurde zu einer wichtigen akademischen und pädagogischen Ressource.
Für diesen besonderen Tag schlagen wir eine thematische Führung vor, die die Teilnehmer einlädt, die Pflanzen des Gartens zu beobachten, zuzuhören, zu berühren, zu riechen und, wenn möglich, zu probieren. Die fünf Sinne werden angesprochen, die Führung wird ruhig und partizipativ durchgeführt, mit kleinen strategischen Stopps, die die Aufmerksamkeit auf jeden einzelnen lenken und nie die Geschichten und die Symbolik dieses Gartens aus den Augen verlieren.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Porto is a place of great ecological, historical, and cultural importance, characterized by its botanical diversity and the richness of the memories it holds. It is a garden that has been planned and structured over time, reflecting different eras and interventions that have contributed to its current identity. Located in the western part of the city of Porto, near the Arrábida escarpment, the garden occupies approximately 4 hectares, being a remaining part of the former Quinta do Campo Alegre. Although its official establishment as a botanical garden dates back to 1951, the history of this space is much older, going back to the 19th century. In the mid-20th century, more precisely in 1949, the Portuguese State acquired the property. A few years later, in 1951, the Botanical Garden was officially established, under the supervision of the Dr. Gonçalo Sampaio Institute of Botany and with the direction of Professor Américo Pires de Lima. This transformation marked a new phase in the life of the garden, which began to assume a more structured scientific and educational function.
From that moment on, a continuous process of enriching the botanical collection began. Numerous species of scientific, ecological, and landscape interest were introduced, complementing those already existing since the 19th century. The garden thus began to play a relevant role in the research, conservation, and dissemination of botanical knowledge, becoming an important academic and pedagogical resource.
For this special day, we suggest a thematic guided tour, which invites participants to observe, listen, touch, smell, and, when possible, taste the garden's plants. Engaging the five senses, the tour is conducted calmly and participatively, with small strategic stops, drawing attention to each one, and never losing sight of the stories and symbolism of this garden.

Il Giardino Botanico dell'Università di Porto è un luogo di grande importanza ecologica, storica e culturale, caratterizzato dalla sua diversità botanica e dalla ricchezza delle memorie che custodisce. Si tratta di un giardino che è stato pianificato e strutturato nel tempo, riflettendo le diverse epoche ed interventi che hanno contribuito alla sua attuale identità. Situato nella parte occidentale della città di Porto, vicino alla scarpata dell'Arrábida, il giardino occupa circa 4 ettari, essendo una parte rimanente dell'ex Quinta do Campo Alegre. Anche se la sua istituzione ufficiale come giardino botanico risale al 1951, la storia di questo spazio è molto più antica, risalente al XIX secolo. Nella metà del XX secolo, più precisamente nel 1949, lo Stato portoghese acquistò la proprietà. Pochi anni dopo, nel 1951, l'Orto Botanico fu ufficialmente istituito, sotto la supervisione dell'Istituto di Botanica Dr. Gonçalo Sampaio e con la direzione del professor Américo Pires de Lima. Questa trasformazione segnò una nuova fase nella vita del giardino, che cominciò ad assumere una funzione scientifica ed educativa più strutturata.
Da quel momento in poi, iniziò un continuo processo di arricchimento della collezione botanica. Sono state introdotte numerose specie di interesse scientifico, ecologico e paesaggistico, a complemento di quelle già esistenti dal XIX secolo. Il giardino cominciò così a svolgere un ruolo rilevante nella ricerca, conservazione e diffusione delle conoscenze botaniche, diventando una importante risorsa accademica e pedagogica.
Per questo giorno speciale, suggeriamo una visita guidata tematica, che invita i partecipanti a osservare, ascoltare, toccare, annusare e, quando possibile, assaggiare le piante del giardino. Coinvolgendo i cinque sensi, il tour viene condotto con calma e partecipazione, con piccole tappe strategiche che richiamano l'attenzione su ciascuno di essi, senza mai perdere di vista le storie e il simbolismo di questo giardino.

Le jardin botanique de l’Université de Porto est un lieu d’une grande importance écologique, historique et culturelle, caractérisé par sa diversité botanique et la richesse des souvenirs qu’il détient. C’est un jardin qui a été planifié et structuré au fil du temps, reflétant différentes époques et interventions qui ont contribué à son identité actuelle. Situé dans la partie ouest de la ville de Porto, près de l’escarpement d’Arrábida, le jardin occupe environ 4 hectares, faisant partie de l’ancienne Quinta do Campo Alegre. Bien que son établissement officiel en tant que jardin botanique remonte à 1951, l’histoire de cet espace est beaucoup plus ancienne, remontant au 19ème siècle. Au milieu du XXe siècle, plus précisément en 1949, l’État portugais a acquis la propriété. Quelques années plus tard, en 1951, le jardin botanique est officiellement créé, sous la supervision du Dr. Gonçalo Sampaio Institute of Botany et sous la direction du professeur Américo Pires de Lima. Cette transformation marque une nouvelle phase dans la vie du jardin, qui commence à assumer une fonction scientifique et éducative plus structurée.
Dès lors, un processus continu d’enrichissement de la collection botanique a commencé. De nombreuses espèces d’intérêt scientifique, écologique et paysager ont été introduites, complétant celles déjà existantes depuis le XIXe siècle. Le jardin commence ainsi à jouer un rôle important dans la recherche, la conservation et la diffusion des connaissances botaniques, devenant une ressource académique et pédagogique importante.
Pour cette journée spéciale, nous vous suggérons une visite guidée thématique, qui invite les participants à observer, écouter, toucher, sentir et, lorsque possible, goûter aux plantes du jardin. Engageant les cinq sens, la visite se déroule de manière calme et participative, avec de petits arrêts stratégiques, attirant l’attention sur chacun d’eux, sans jamais perdre de vue les histoires et le symbolisme de ce jardin.

Situado en la parte occidental de la ciudad de Oporto, cerca del escarpado de Arrábida, el jardín ocupa aproximadamente 4 hectáreas, siendo una parte restante de la antigua Quinta do Campo Alegre. Aunque su establecimiento oficial como jardín botánico se remonta a 1951, la historia de este espacio es mucho más antigua, remontándose al siglo XIX. A mediados del siglo XX, más precisamente en 1949, el Estado portugués adquirió la propiedad. Unos años más tarde, en 1951, se estableció oficialmente el Jardín Botánico, bajo la supervisión del Instituto de Botánica Dr. Gonçalo Sampaio y con la dirección del profesor Américo Pires de Lima. Esta transformación marcó una nueva fase en la vida del jardín, que comenzó a asumir una función científica y educativa más estructurada.
A partir de ese momento, comenzó un proceso continuo de enriquecimiento de la colección botánica. Se introdujeron numerosas especies de interés científico, ecológico y paisajístico, complementando las que ya existían desde el siglo XIX. El jardín comenzó así a desempeñar un papel relevante en la investigación, conservación y difusión del conocimiento botánico, convirtiéndose en un importante recurso académico y pedagógico.
Para este día tan especial, sugerimos una visita guiada temática, que invita a los participantes a observar, escuchar, tocar, oler y, cuando sea posible, probar las plantas del jardín. El recorrido, que involucra a los cinco sentidos, se realiza con calma y participación, con pequeñas paradas estratégicas, llamando la atención sobre cada uno de ellos, sin perder nunca de vista las historias y simbolismos de este jardín.
