Begegnung der Escarboucle
Im Anschluss an das Thema der Ausgabe 2026 der Europäischen Tage des Kulturerbes "Fotoerbe" bietet die L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts ein Treffen von L'Escarboucle an, das die Entstehung des Werks Daniel Brush erforscht. Die Kunst der Linie und des Lichts und wie die Fotografie von Werken zu ihrer Beleuchtung beiträgt.

L'Escarboucle, die Buchhandlung der L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts
Im Hotel de Mercy-Argenteau ist L'Escarboucle eine Buchhandlung, die sich ganz der Welt des Schmucks widmet. Ebenso poetisch wie rätselhaft bezieht sich der Begriff "escarboucle" auf den Namen, der einst den Edelsteinen eines feurigen Rot gegeben wurde: Rubine, Spinelle oder außergewöhnliche Granatäpfel ("Carbunculus" bedeutet "kleine Glut" auf Latein).
Dieser Raum versammelt Werke über Schmuck, Juwelierwaren, ihre Schöpfer, das erforderliche Know-how, die Gemmologie und darüber hinaus die angewandten Künste und die Geschichte des Geschmacks. Die Regale der Buchhandlung beherbergen fast 3.000 Titel, auf Französisch und in anderen Sprachen.

Encounter of L’Escarboucle
In continuity with the theme of the 2026 edition of the European Heritage Days, "The Heritage of Photography", L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts proposed an Encounter of L'Escarboucle exploring the genesis of the publication Daniel Brush, The Art of Line and Light and the manner in which the artist’s works are brought to life through photography.
Led by photographer Benjamin Chelly and Lætitia Gilles-Guery, gemologist and lecturer at L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, this exchange will explore the specificities of photographing jewelry and precious stones and the ways in which photography renders light.
L’Escarboucle, the bookstore of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts
Dedicated to the world of jewelry, the bookshop is located in the Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau, a stone’s throw from theaters. Its poetic, enigmatic name is derived from the Latin word carbunculus (small embers), once used to designate precious stones of a fiery red hue: exceptional rubies, spinels, and garnets.
The store carries some three thousand French and foreign-language works on jewelry, jewelry designers, requisite savoir-faire, gemology, applied arts, and aesthetic evolutions over the course of time.

Tanto poetico quanto enigmatico, il termine "escarcle" si riferisce al nome dato un tempo alle pietre preziose di un rosso ardente: rubini, spinelli o granati eccezionali ("Carbunculus" significa "piccola brace" in latino).
Questo spazio riunisce opere sulla gioielleria, i loro creatori, le competenze che richiedono, la gemmologia e, oltre, le arti applicate e la storia del gusto. Gli scaffali della libreria accolgono circa 3.000 titoli, in francese e in lingue straniere.
