Tanlay Castle is a Renaissance castle, listed as a historic monument located in Tanlay in Yonne. At the time of the dukes of Burgundy, the castle of Tanlay is a real stronghold. Charles le Téméraire called it at the time «place of war sitting on the border of several lands and one of the most important of Burgundy». The castle of Tanlay, built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, surrounded by moats, is representative of the style of the French Renaissance. Some architectural details, such as the pyramids on the access bridge, the wall surrounding the Green Courtyard, the Césars Gallery and the Nymphaeus, are impregnated with Italian taste.
