The medieval town of Beaumont-sur-Oise was organized and structured around its primitive castle. From the 10th century, feudal system combining dungeon, castle collegiate church and parish church. This fortress was destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. An architectural evolution of the site is legible ranging from the 10th to the 17th century. Towers and their 13th century enclosure surround the large 12th century donjon, rectangular, with oblique buttresses and featuring an apsidal chapel. A Carolingian collegiate church has survived. A new church is built in the 12th century, which will become the Saint-Léonor priory. It will be slaughtered after being sold as national property during the Revolution. The whole thing is just a ruin in the 19th century. The site has been excavated since 1984.
