Die moderne Freimaurerei, die aus der allmählichen Umwandlung der Handwerkskreise ab 1645 hervorgegangen ist, ist ein reines Produkt der Aufklärung. In London, dem damaligen Epizentrum des philosophischen Denkens, wurde 1717 die erste Große Loge gegründet.
In Kontinentaleuropa stellt der Große Orient von Frankreich die älteste und bedeutendste freimaurerische Ordnung dar. Gegründet 1728 unter dem Namen Première Grande Loge de France, nahm es seine heutige Struktur und Bezeichnung im Jahr 1773 an. Heute zählt der Grand Orient de France mehr als 51.600 Mitglieder, verteilt auf über 1.390 Loggien.
Seine Einzigartigkeit beruht auf einem humanistischen, initiativen und brüderlichen Ansatz. Die individuelle Weiterbildung ist nur sinnvoll, wenn sie von einer engagierten Reflexion über die Herausforderungen der Welt und der Gesellschaft begleitet wird. Was wäre die intellektuelle, moralische oder spirituelle Verbesserung eines Individuums wert, wenn sie ihn nicht zu den anderen und ihrem Schicksal bringt?

Resulting from the gradual transformation of the guilds of trades from 1645, modern Freemasonry is a pure product of the Enlightenment. It was in London, then the epicenter of philosophical thought, that the first Grand Lodge was founded in 1717.
In continental Europe, the Grand Orient of France is the oldest and most important masonic obedience. Founded in 1728 under the name of First Grand Lodge of France, it adopts its current structure and name in 1773. Today, the Grand Orient of France brings together more than 51,600 members, spread over 1,390 lodges.
Its singularity is based on a humanistic, initiatory and fraternal approach. Individual improvement takes on its full meaning only if it is accompanied by an engaged reflection on the challenges of the world and society. What would be worth the intellectual, moral or spiritual improvement of an individual if it did not bring him to others and their destiny?

Issue de la transformation progressive des corporations de métiers à partir de 1645, la franc-maçonnerie moderne est un pur produit du siècle des Lumières. C’est à Londres, alors épicentre de la pensée philosophique, que la première Grande Loge voit le jour en 1717.

Que vaudrait l’amélioration intellectuelle, morale ou spirituelle d’un individu si elle ne le portait pas vers les autres et leur destin ?
