On March 1st, 1562, the Protestants installed(settled) in Wassy and François de Guise, duke of Joinville are going to confront one another in a barn causing(provoking) the death of dozens of Protestants. This massacre will mark the beginning of the wars of religion in France and it up to the promulgation of the Edict of Nantes in 1598.
