Eden, an ancient place steeped in history:
The first traces that we know of the site date back to the thirteenth century, it is then a leper house placed on the banks of the Aujon and which extended to the chapel of the Trinity. Then in the seventeenth century, the writings inform us that in the extension of a forge located at Marmesse, created by Nicolas de l'Hôpital, a bas fourneau and a «patouillis» (A patouillet is a device formed by a rotating axis equipped with pallets, used for washing ore stuffed with sand or clay) are placed on the site of the Eden. In 1866, the second half of the 19th century saw the arrival of the railway with the construction of the bridge that we still know today, spanning the Aujon. More recently, the place called «Eden», was a place of reunion and welcome for the Castelvillanois.
