The Arboretum des Charmettes is located in Lamargelle-au-Bois, commune of Vals-des-Tilles 52160; it adjoins the village, along the main hiking trail n°7 (GR7), known as the Vivey trail. https://goo.gl/maps/aDAsdvrYL6xnmkoi9 Over 5000 m² are gathered 360 species of trees and shrubs. Half (180) are woody species that grow spontaneously in France (out of about 450 species, excluding mountains and Mediterranean area) ; it is therefore possible to see in one place all the trees and shrubs that grow in the territory of the National Park of Forests in Champagne and Burgundy, accompanied by a label (French name most used, Latin name, geographical area). We can also discover some mountain or Mediterranean species, as well as many North American or Asian species. The visit is free. By visiting the Arboretum of Charmettes in Lamargelle-aux-bois you will learn to (re)know all the trees and shrubs of our region, as well as many others, sometimes rare in their original area.
