Chapelle N.D.F. aux verrières Lalique
40 rue du Bout Varin, 14440 Douvres-la-Délivrande
Free visit of the Lalique Chapel and its gardens. This chapel contains one of the first monumental expressions of glass slabs, an architectural technique that René Lalique pioneered. Classified as a Historical Monument, this superb ensemble has been restored in the spirit of the original work designed by Lalique in 1930 for the Centenary of the Community. To discover: Christ in translucent cross, three glass windows, an altarpiece, a tabernacle door, luminous columns and a sanctuary lamp.
Also to be discovered: the Way of the Cross by Alix Aymé on lacquer (1948), the 15th station designed by Isabelle Emmerique, master of lacquer (2014) and its marquetry support designed by Marie Collino (2015); the recumbent-reliquary of Sainte Florida (wax restored in 2015 by Stéphanie Duboc).
