Abbaye cistercienne de Villers-Canivet
1 chemin de l'abbaye, 14420 Villers-Canivet
Founded in 1127, royal abbey in 1681, rebuilt in 1741, national property in 1792\. A historic monument, restored since 1976, this monastery contained more than 100 nuns at its peak. The exceptional medieval portery (13th century) practically remained in its original state (the only one in the Cistercian order). The abbey enclosure surrounded by walls preserves the important farm and its barn dimière, the house of the monks, the well, the remains of the cloister..., the park and the gardens.
