Look up! From the Hôtel-Dieu to the museum!
WHAT IS A MUSEUM?

Discovering the Museum of Vire Normandie is discovering the history of a building, former hotel-Dieu of the 18th century, and rich and diversified heritage collections reflecting the history of the territory.
This tour, consists of two times: 1 - From the hotel-Dieu to the museum! A visit retracing the history of the building, evoking its recent renovation and reopening in 2021.
2 - What is a museum? A museum is a space full of surprises, offering stories and views based on its collections. Sculpture, painting, photography, costume, furniture, what is found in a museum? How to preserve and present these works, objects and documents?
Your class will be accompanied by two mediators who will show you behind the scenes of the museum. The visits will be punctuated with interactions with children.
Namely:
- 1 class per half day. It will be divided into 2 groups that will each follow a mediator
- Time: 30/45 minutes per visit depending on levels – total time between 1h15 and 1h45
