Guided tour of the exhibition: Zao Wou-Ki - the alleys of another world
Discover for free the exhibition Zao Wou-Ki - The alleys of another world in the presence of cultural mediators.
The Franciscans have the privilege of hosting an exceptional monographic exhibition dedicated to the work of Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013). This artist of Chinese origin, who became French in 1964, traced a unique artistic path, navigating between the tradition of his native country and Western modernity, to finally find a new, free and free path. This exhibition explores Zao Wou-Ki’s artistic freedom through the diversity of visual and intellectual expressions he explored throughout his life. The route reveals a variety of mediums, including paintings, watercolors, inks, prints, tapestries, porcelain, steles, poetry books, as well as an imposing wall decoration of more than sixteen meters long, commissioned by the State for the college L'Herminier in La Seyne-sur-Mer built by the architect Roger Taillibert. These works are brought together for the first time in an exhibition that celebrates the practice and thought of a total artist, whose existential approach was entirely dedicated to the representation of realities beyond those of the visible world.
