The exhibition pays tribute to the 530 war correspondents who covered the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy during the summer of 1944. Risking their lives, these men and women allowed the world to follow this turning point in history «live».
Presented in 2023 during the Bayeux Prize, this exhibition is proposed thanks to the loan of the City of Bayeux.

About the location

Château de Creully

A few kilometers from the landing beaches and the Bayeux Tapestry, the medieval castle of Creully is one of the most important of the Calvados after those of Caen and Falaise. Located in the heart of the village of Creully-sur-Seulles, its history is close to that of William the Conqueror, the Hundred Years War or the Battle of Normandy. The castle’s Square Tower was chosen to secretly house the BBC’s war reporters' studio after the village was liberated in June 1944\. The castle of Creully also surprises with its atypical architecture, which testifies to the multiple transformations it underwent from the 12th to the 19th century. Its fortress appearance, with its moat, ramparts and machicolations contrasts strongly with the Renaissance turret of the façade. The stables and the exceptional Romanesque hall recall the presence of the great lords who succeeded each other in Creully for several centuries.
