Jacqueline Salmon besuchte monatelang Museen und Kirchen in ganz Europa, schaute sich Kataloge und Inventar an und sammelte Bilder und Postkarten rund um das Thema der Kreuzigung. Sein Ziel war es, die Variationen des Perizoniums zu untersuchen, dieses Tuch, das die Nacktheit Christi am Kreuz verdeckt. Ein wenig wie eine Kunsthistorikerin hat die Künstlerin diese "Bilder von Gemälden" nach Typ, Epoche, Genre und Schule klassifiziert. Nach der Organisation dieses riesigen Korpus hat die Strenge, die zunächst dem Vorgehen voranging, der poetischen Erkundung Platz gemacht. Durch die Enthüllung der Feinheit der bildnerischen Verarbeitung, durch das Spiel der kleinsten Variationen, wird der Besucher zu einer visuellen und spirituellen Reise an den Grenzen von Malerei und Fotografie eingeladen.
Jacqueline Salmon, 1943 in Lyon geboren, lebt und arbeitet in Paris und Charnay im Süden des Beaujolais. Seit 1981 baut sie ein einzigartiges fotografisches Werk an der Schnittstelle von Kunstgeschichte, Philosophie und Geschichte auf.
Die Preisträgerin der Villa Médicis Hors les murs (1993) pflegt ihre Arbeit durch Kooperationen mit Philosophen und Schriftstellern wie Hubert Damisch, Jean-Louis Schefer, Paul Virilio, Bernard Lamarche-Vadel, Christine Buci-Glucksmann, Jean-Christophe Bailly und Georges Didi-Huberman.

For months, Jacqueline Salmon visited museums and churches throughout Europe, consulted catalogues and inventories, collected images and postcards on the theme of the Crucifixion. His goal was to study the variations of perizonium, this cloth that covers the nakedness of Christ on the Cross. A bit like an art historian, the artist classified these "images of paintings" by type, era, genre, and school. At the end of a work of organization of this immense corpus, rigor, which initially presided over the approach, gave way to poetic exploration. By revealing the subtlety of pictorial treatment, through the play of minute variations, the visitor is invited on a visual and spiritual journey, to the confines of painting and photography.
Born in Lyon in 1943, Jacqueline Salmon lives and works in Paris and Charnay, in the south of Beaujolais. Since 1981, she has been building a unique photographic work, at the crossroads of art history, philosophy and history.
Laureate of the Villa Médicis Hors les murs (1993), her work is nourished by collaborations with philosophers and writers: Hubert Damisch, Jean-Louis Schefer, Paul Virilio, Bernard Lamarche-Vadel, Christine Buci-Glucksmann, Jean- Christophe Bailly or Georges Didi-Huberman.

Per mesi, Jacqueline Salmon ha visitato musei e chiese in tutta Europa, consultato cataloghi e inventari, raccolto immagini e cartoline sul tema della Crocifissione. Il suo obiettivo era studiare le variazioni del perizonium, quella stoffa che copre la nudità di Cristo sulla Croce. Un po' alla maniera di una storica dell'arte, l'artista ha classificato queste "immagini di dipinti" per tipo, epoca, genere, scuola. Al termine di un lavoro di organizzazione di questo immenso corpus, il rigore, che inizialmente ha presieduto alla procedura, ha lasciato il posto all'esplorazione poetica. Attraverso la rivelazione della sottigliezza dell'elaborazione pittorica, attraverso il gioco delle piccole variazioni, il visitatore è invitato a un viaggio visivo e spirituale, ai confini della pittura e della fotografia.
Nata a Lione nel 1943, Jacqueline Salmon vive e lavora a Parigi e a Charnay, nel sud del Beaujolais. Dal 1981, costruisce un'opera fotografica singolare, al crocevia della storia dell'arte, della filosofia e della storia.

Pendant des mois, Jacqueline Salmon a visité musées et églises aux quatre coins de l’Europe, consulté catalogues et inventaires, collecté images et cartes postales autour du thème de la Crucifixion. Son objectif était d'étudier les variations du perizonium, ce linge qui recouvre la nudité du Christ sur la Croix. Un peu à la manière d’une historienne de l’art, l’artiste a classé ces « images de peintures » par type, époque, genre, école. A l’issu d’un travail d’organisation de cet immense corpus, la rigueur, qui a d’abord présidé à la démarche, a laissé place à l’exploration poétique. Par la révélation de la subtilité du traitement pictural, par le jeu des infimes variations, le visiteur est invité à un voyage visuel et spirituel, aux confins de la peinture et de la photographie.

Durante meses, Jacqueline Salmon visitó museos e iglesias en toda Europa, consultó catálogos e inventarios, coleccionó imágenes y postales sobre el tema de la Crucifixión. Su objetivo era estudiar las variaciones del perizonio, la tela que cubre la desnudez de Cristo en la Cruz. Un poco a la manera de una historiadora del arte, la artista clasificó estas "imágenes de pinturas" por tipo, época, género y escuela. Al término de un trabajo de organización de este inmenso corpus, el rigor, que primero presidió la iniciativa, dio paso a la exploración poética. Por la revelación de la sutileza del tratamiento pictórico, por el juego de las pequeñas variaciones, el visitante es invitado a un viaje visual y espiritual, en los confines de la pintura y de la fotografía.
