Der Kallitypus (griechisch καλὸς - beau) ist ein fotografisches Verfahren aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, das von Dr. W.W.J. Nicol in Fortsetzung der Arbeiten von Sir John Herschel am Cyanotyp entwickelt wurde. Im Gegensatz zum preußischen Blau des Cyanotypus erzeugt der Kallityp durch die Kombination von Eisen- und Silbersalzen Bilder in den Sepia-Tönen.
In diesem von Etienne Godier moderierten Workshop werden Sie eine Ausfertigung nach diesem Verfahren durchführen. Nach einer Kontaktbelichtung mit einem digitalen Negativ Ihrer Wahl wird das Bild im Wasser enthüllt und dann fixiert.
Zugänglich und sensibel, lädt diese Filmpraxis dazu ein, durch die Jahrhunderte zu reisen, um die Ursprünge der Fotografie wiederzuentdecken.
Étienne Godier erforscht eine breite Palette alter und zeitgenössischer fotografischer Verfahren, indem er analoge Drucke mit digitaler Arbeit mischt.
Seine Werke nehmen meist die Form kleiner, wertvoller und fragmentierter Formate an, wie Fragmente unvollendeter Geschichten. Ein und dieselbe Fotografie kann in mehreren Variationen im Bild der Erinnerung existieren, die sich mit jeder Erzählung verwandelt.
Eine lange Zeit trennt oft die Aufnahme und den Moment, in dem das Foto seine endgültige Form findet. Das Bild durchquert mehrere Zustände und wird auf verschiedenen Papieren dargestellt. Diese aufeinanderfolgenden Experimente sind so viele Schritte auf der Suche nach einer gerechten Form, bei der die Materie in den Dienst der Emotion gestellt wird.
Jede Fotografie wird so zu einem Feld der Erkundung, das zwischen technischer Beherrschung und dem Zufall schwankt und der Unvollkommenheit ausgeliefert ist.

The Callitype (from Greek καλὸς – beautiful) is a nineteenth-century photographic process developed by Dr. W.W.J. Nicol as a continuation of Sir John Herschel’s work on the cyanotype. Unlike the Prussian blue of cyanotype, callitype produces images with sepia tones, thanks to the combination of iron and silver salts.
During this workshop led by Etienne Godier, you will make a print using this process. After exposure by contact using a digital negative of your choice, the image will be exposed to water and then fixed.
Accessible and sensitive, this film technique invites you to cross the centuries to rediscover the origins of photography.
Étienne Godier explores a wide range of photographic processes, ancient and contemporary, by hybridizing analog print and digital work.
His works often take the form of small, precious and fragmentary formats, like fragments of unfinished stories. The same photograph can exist in multiple variations, like the memory that transforms with each story.
There is often a long time between the taking of the shot and the moment when the photograph finds its final form. The image crosses several states and is declined on different papers. These successive experiments constitute as many steps in the search for a just form, where matter is at the service of emotion.
Each photograph thus becomes a field of exploration, oscillating between technical mastery and part of randomness, at the mercy of imperfection.

A differenza del blu prussiano del cianotipo, il callitipo produce immagini dai toni seppia, grazie alla combinazione di sali di ferro e d'argento.
Durante questo workshop guidato da Etienne Godier, realizzerete una stampa secondo questa procedura. Dopo un'esposizione a contatto con un negativo numerico, di vostra scelta, l'immagine verrà rivelata nell'acqua e poi fissata.
Accessibile e sensibile, questa pratica cinematografica vi invita a viaggiare attraverso i secoli per riscoprire le origini della fotografia.

Le Callitype (du grec καλὸς – beau) est un procédé photographique du XIXème siècle développé par le Dr. W.W.J. Nicol dans la continuité des travaux de Sir John Herschel sur le cyanotype. Contrairement au bleu de prusse du cyanotype, le callitype produit des images aux tonalités sépia, grâce à la combinaison de sels de fer et d'argent.
Lors de cet atelier animé par Etienne Godier, vous réaliserez un tirage selon ce procédé. Après une exposition par contact à l'aide d'un négatif numérique, de votre choix, l'image sera révélée à l’eau, puis fixée.

El calitipo (del griego καλὸς - beau) es un proceso fotográfico del siglo XIX desarrollado por el Dr. W.W.J. Nicol en la continuidad de los trabajos de Sir John Herschel sobre el cianotipo. A diferencia del azul prusiano del cianotipo, el calitipo produce imágenes en tonos sepia, gracias a la combinación de sales de hierro y plata.
Durante este taller dirigido por Etienne Godier, realizaréis un grabado según este procedimiento. Después de una exposición por contacto con un negativo numérico, de su elección, la imagen será revelada en el agua y luego fijada.
