"die Bilder der Objekte durch das Wirken von Licht fixieren" war das Ziel der Brüder Niépce ab der Wende zum 19. Jahrhundert. Multidisziplinäre Forscher, die von den technischen Fortschritten ihrer Zeit inspiriert sind und selbst auf der Suche nach Innovation und Erfindung sind, dieses Thema ist eines unter vielen in ihren Forschungen, in einem intellektuellen und wissenschaftlichen Reichtum, der ihrer Zeit eigen ist.
Niépces Neugier und Scharfsinn führen ihn dazu, ein Bündel physikalischer, optischer und chemischer Phänomene zu verbinden, die manchmal seit der Antike bekannt sind, und sie auf dieses fast obsessive Ziel auszurichten: die getreue Darstellung der Realität durch das lichtempfindliche Phänomen.
Zwei Jahrhunderte sind seit den ersten erfolgreichen Versuchen von Niépce vergangen. Aus der Ferne der ersten Erkundungen des Erfinders stehen die grundlegenden Fragen der Erfindung immer im Zentrum fotografischer Praktiken. Lichtempfindlichkeit, Testmaterial, Einwirkzeit, Reproduzierbarkeit und technische Protokolle sind ebenso viele mögliche Hinweise und Überlegungen von Niépces Erben wie eine Vielzahl von Wegen zu einzigartigen und sensiblen Ausdrücken, die diese Ausstellung zeigen wird.

"to fix the images of objects by the action of light" was the goal of the Niépce brothers from the turn of the 19th century. Multidisciplinary researchers inspired by the technical progress of their time, themselves in search of innovation and invention, this subject is one among others in their prospections, in an intellectual and scientific profusion specific to their time.
Niépce’s curiosity and insight led him to connect a bundle of physical, optical, and chemical phenomena, sometimes known since antiquity, and to converge them towards this almost obsessive goal: the faithful representation of reality by the photosensitive phenomenon.
Two centuries have passed since the first conclusive tests of Niépce. From the distant first trial and error of the inventor, the founding questions of invention are always at the heart of photographic practices. Photosensitivity, the subject matter of the prints, exposure time, reproducibility, technical protocols, are all possible paths and reflections for Niépce’s heirs, like a multitude of paths leading to unique and sensitive expressions that this exhibition will reveal.

« fixer les images des objets par l’action de la lumière » est l’objectif des frères Niépce dès le tournant du 19e siècle. Chercheurs pluridisciplinaires inspirés par les progrès techniques de leur époque, eux-mêmes en quête d’innovation et d’invention, ce sujet est un parmi d’autres dans leurs prospections, dans un foisonnement intellectuel et scientifique propre à leur époque.
La curiosité et sa perspicacité de Niépce l’amène à relier un faisceau de phénomènes physiques, optiques et chimiques, parfois connus depuis l’Antiquité, et à les faire converger vers ce but quasi obsessionnel : la représentation fidèle de la réalité par le phénomène photosensible.
Deux siècles se sont écoulés depuis les premiers essais concluants de Niépce. Du lointain des premiers tâtonnements de l’inventeur, les questions fondatrices de l’invention sont toujours au cœur des pratiques photographiques. Photosensibilité, matière des épreuves, temps de pose, reproductibilité, protocoles techniques, sont autant de pistes et de réflexions possibles d’héritiers de Niépce, comme une multitude de chemins conduisant à des expressions uniques et sensibles que donnera à voir cette exposition.
