Die Präsentation zeitgenössischer Farbfotografien von Justin Partyka neben einer Auswahl jahrhundertealter Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografien von Eugène Atget wird einen inspirierenden und poetischen visuellen Dialog zwischen ihren beiden fotografischen Werken schaffen. Die Ausstellung wird Themen aus der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart erkunden und zwei Visionen von Frankreich in einem Jahrhundert zeigen, um faszinierende und überraschende Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede zu enthüllen.
Diese beiden fotografischen Künstler teilen eine langfristige Besessenheit, die Orte in Frankreich aufzunehmen, an denen sie sich entschieden haben zu arbeiten: Atget vor allem im alten Paris und seiner Umgebung, und Partyka in der vielfältigen Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Es ist wichtig zu beachten, dass Atget aus Nouvelle-Aquitaine stammt und am 12. Februar 1857 in der Nähe von Bordeaux in Libourne geboren wurde. The presentation of contemporary color photographs by Justin Partyka alongside a selection of centenary black and white photographs by Eugène Atget will create an inspiring and poetic visual dialogue between their two photographic works. The exhibition will explore themes from the past and present, showing two visions of France a century apart to reveal intriguing and surprising similarities and differences.
These two artists photographers share a long-term obsession, that of recording the places in France in which they have decided to work: Atget mainly in old Paris and its surroundings, and Partyka in the diverse region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Both photographers use the camera to provide a thought-provoking look in their exploration of our human relationship with place: its construction in our cities and towns, as we shape places and spaces during our daily lives. Their images intertwine the theme of passing time, showing how things change and how they remain the same.
Justin Partyka considers Eugène Atget as the most important French photographer. Atget’s life and work are a major source of inspiration for Partyka’s own photography in France, but their approach to photography is very different: Atget with its large-format black and white plates composed formally, against Partyka with its small-format 35mm color negatives composed freely. It is important to note that Atget is originally from Nouvelle-Aquitaine, he was born near Bordeaux in Libourne on 12 February 1857. The exhibition is proposed from the summer and autumn of 2027, an important year since it is the centenary of the death of Atget, on August 4, 1927.
The joint presentation of the work of these two photographers will highlight multiple narratives that explore sociocultural ideas about France and examine photography as a visual art and mode of documentation. The subjects that appear in their photographs include various types of urban architecture and street scenes, cemeteries and parks, trees and gardens, as well as scenes from rural France. Atget is well known for his famous familiar views of Paris, but this exhibition will bring a new look to his work by showing another selection of his photographs chosen by Partyka and the curators of the exhibition; These will include rare photographs that Atget has taken in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and elsewhere than in Paris.
Partyka’s photographs are taken in villages, towns and cities along the TER train lines in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Using TER as a guide to explore the region and as a sustainable mode of transport, his photographs reveal the human relationship with places where the train stops, noticing moments and things of everyday life that most of us go through without thinking about it. Partyka’s photographs are in search of a new way of seeing Nouvelle-Aquitaine, they draw our attention to these scenes and incite us to contemplate their vernacular meanings. The exhibition will present photographs of the first twelve years of Partyka’s work in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, from 2015.

L’exposition explorera les thèmes du passé et du présent, montrant deux visions de la France à un siècle d’intervalle pour révéler des similitudes et des différences intrigantes et surprenantes.
Ces deux artistes photographes partagent une obsession à long terme, celle d’enregistrer les lieux de France dans lesquels ils ont décidé de travailler : Atget principalement dans le vieux Paris et ses environs, et Partyka dans la région diversifiée de la Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Les deux photographes utilisent l’appareil photo pour poser un regard qui suscite la réflexion dans leur exploration de notre relation humaine avec le lieu : sa construction dans nos villes et nos villages, alors que nous façonnons les lieux et les espaces au cours de notre vie quotidienne. Leurs images entrelacent le thème du temps qui passe, montrant comment les choses changent et comment elles restent les mêmes.
Justin Partyka considère Eugène Atget comme le plus important photographe français. La vie et l’oeuvre d’Atget sont une source d’inspiration majeure pour la propre photographie de Partyka en France, mais leur approche de la photographie est très différente : Atget avec ses plaques noir et blanc de grand format composées de manière formelle, contre Partyka avec ses négatifs couleur de petit format 35 mm composés librement. La exposición explorará los temas del pasado y el presente, mostrando dos visiones de Francia con un siglo de diferencia para revelar similitudes y diferencias intrigantes y sorprendentes.
Estos dos artistas fotográficos comparten una obsesión a largo plazo, la de registrar los lugares de Francia en los que decidieron trabajar: Atget principalmente en el viejo París y sus alrededores, y Partyka en la región diversificada de la Nueva Aquitania.
