Every year, photographers, project officers, and professionals involved in the European Horizont Climatic project come together to discuss the 10 "Observatoires photographiques du Paysage" established as part of the project.
This year, the event is open to professionals in land-use planning and landscape architecture, local elected officials, professional and amateur photographers, as well as the general public with several dedicated sessions throughout the day: a roundtable discussion, a lecture, workshops, and more. This day will provide an opportunity to exchange perspectives on landscape issues through photography’s dual approach—both artistic and documentary.
Over the course of the day, immerse yourself in the landscapes of Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and France through "Observatoires photographiques du Paysage" —photographic initiatives based on building a documentary archive and updating the images year after year. Meet the professional photographers responsible for building and maintaining this archive. Through these photographs, explore the climate challenges facing our regions, their resources, their weaknesses, and their strengths to envision their resilience for the future.
A photography contest will also be held in advance. The winners will be announced and prizes awarded on the day of the event. The day’s activities will be translated into French and German.
Since 2024, the Meurthe-et-Moselle Departmental Council, through the Cité des Paysages, has been participating in the European INTERREG project “Horizont Climatic,” led by the Lorraine Regional Nature Park (PnrL) Joint Association and bringing together 11 partners from the Greater Region (German, Belgian, French, and Luxembourgish). Its goal is to promote understanding of landscape transformations linked to climate change. To this end, tools for analyzing and raising awareness about landscapes are being developed for various audiences (students, residents, municipalities, landscape managers, etc.). Several initiatives will thus be undertaken through 2028: creation of Public Partnership Agreements (OPPs), development of participatory foresight tools, landscape improvements, educational resources, and more.
