Free visit of the mayor’s office and its painted ceiling decorated with plants and animals.

It is a real menagerie that reveals itself in the middle of a colorful vegetal decoration!
These elements were painted in 1685 by Jacques Roumegous at the time when the building was still the private mansion of a notable. The city’s consuls bought the building in 1728 to make it a «common house», ancestor of the town hall.
About 80 birds are represented there as well as other animals, dogs, fox, monkey... Everything is quite well preserved despite the years.

In 1728, the city bought the mansion of Saint-Hippolyte and then of Étienne de Martin, treasurer of France, built in the seventeenth century. This building once housed a “begging depot”. It is now the main seat of the town hall, which has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1971.
